Situated on relatively high ground overlooking the floodplain of the W-E River Blackwater c. 400m to the N. Ballygally was owned by Leonard Knoyle or Knowles in 1629 (R. 1901, 128), but it is not known if he built a house. Ballygally House is a three-bay two storey over basement house of c. 1800 with a return at N.
