On the edge of a steep E-facing slope in rolling pasture. A stream runs c. 50m to the E, with the River Suir c. 200m also to the E. The church is positioned on the S side of a graveyard (TS081-056003-), aligned E-W (dims. 8.55m x 17.8m externally), constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble and is heavily covered with ivy. The E gable (wall T 0.7m) has largely collapsed, though the NE corner survives. At the E end of the N wall (H c. 3.5m; T 0.9m) there is a single-light window. At the W end of the N wall there is a straight-sided opening (1.04m Wth) which was probably the original doorway, though no door surrounds survive. The W gable has collapsed internally and only survives to a height of 1-1.5m. The S wall (H 3m; T 0.8m) survives for much of its length, though there is a section of rebuild (3m L) consisting of a later narrow wall, c. 4.15m from the SW corner. At the E end of the S wall there is a window embrasure, only the W side of which survives. The wall E of this has collapsed and has been rebuilt. The interior contains a lot of rubble and is very overgrown with vegetation.

Ballydrinan Church, a ruined structure aligned east-west, was likely built in the early medieval period, possibly by a local monastic or ecclesiastical community. Its location within a graveyard and orientation suggest a Christian place of worship, though specific dedications or builders are not recorded.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
