Ballownie

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Ballownie as Barrow (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Neolithic chambered cairn; dates to the Early to Middle Neolithic period (circa 3700–3000 BCE). Ballownie is significant as one of the best-preserved and most complex Neolithic monuments in Scotland, providing important insights into early ceremonial and funerary practices.
