Ballinlass Fort is a 32.5-metre circular rath on a Galway rise, marked by a scarp, fosse and outer bank that quarrying has bitten into from the north-west to north-east. It belongs to the fairy-fort tradition, where the ground remembers more than people choose to admit. Two other earthworks sit within a few hundred metres, suggesting a neighbourhood rather than a lonely hole. The grassland stays low around the rise, as if the fort still holds its shape against the flat world.

On a rise in otherwise low-lying grassland. Overgrown circular rath (D 32.5m), in fair condition, defined by a scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank. Quarrying has encroached upon the enclosing elements from NNW to NNE. A probable Man-made underground passage (GA017-015001-) is associated. Earthworks (GA017-017---- and GA017-016----) lie c. 220m to WNW and 250m to S respectively.
