What is recorded here
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Balcarres House Chapel as Chapel (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Linked to St. Fillan, the chapel and surrounding area are associated with early Christian pilgrimage and healing traditions in Perth and Kinross. Local folklore suggests the site may have been a place of prayer and penance, with nearby wells possibly used for ritual cleansing or as sites of miraculous cures.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
