Balbegno Castle is a 16th-century tower house in Aberdeenshire, altered through the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, with a farmhouse on the northeast as its only occupied part. Its unusual L-plan has a re-entrant tower filling the angle and rising a storey higher, while the hall below holds rib-vaulting, sculptured corbels and painted armorial bearings. Water now damages the hall roof, and the castle stands beside a walled garden, dovecot and early 19th-century stables.
