Badenyon was the thirteenth-century house of John O'Badenyon, later the old residence of Gordons of Glenbuchat until they built Glenbuchat Castle in 1590. Its moat still shows as a cropmark, a ghost line in the fields where water once kept intruders at bay. The castle appeared on a map in 1654, proof that even after its owners moved on, the shape of the place remained familiar enough to draw.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Badenyon as Castle (medieval), Farmstead (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
