This blue commemorative plaque records: Austin Hopkinson 1879-1962 Local industrialist, inventor and M.P. for Mossley, Bought Ryecroft Hall (originally built in 1849/50) in 1913. Hopkinson, owner of Delta Engineering, presented Ryecroft Hall to Audenshaw UDC in 1920. It is now used by Tameside MBC and the local community. Recorded plaque organisation: Tameside Metropolitan Borough.
Austin Hopkinson was a local industrialist and Member of Parliament for Mossley, known for his contributions to engineering and philanthropy, including donating Ryecroft Hall to Audenshaw UDC in 1920.
