Auchlane is a possible medieval castle and moat in Dumfries and Galloway, recorded only as a point accurate to the nearest ten metres. James MacLellan, later 5th Lord Kirkcudbright, was born there around 1661 and lived through decades of debt, legal disputes and political risk before dying in 1730. The moat may still hold water, or may have vanished into pasture; either way, the ground kept a man who refused to kneel and lost much for it.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Auchlane as Castle (medieval)(possible), Moat (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
