Asloun Castle stands in Aberdeenshire as a four-storey round tower with a surviving wall, built around the 16th century and marked by two gun-loops, a vaulted lower floor, a hidden well and a dome vault above the main stair. Its cable-moulded sandstone pendant still hangs in the landing, a small flourish of pride inside a house made for defense. The tower may have watched roads, fields or rivers, while its vaulted rooms stored what life required and its stair carried people upward through dark, narrow air.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Asloun Castle as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Asloun Castle was built as a medieval tower house, likely by a local landholding family in the 15th or 16th century. It is remembered as an example of Scottish domestic architecture and as evidence of the region's historic defensive and social structures.
