Aros Castle is a steamship recorded in Argyll and Bute, not a stone castle at all. The name deceives, suggesting towers and guardrooms when the truth is a vessel built to carry people or goods across water. Aros Castle was a 13th-century fortress built by the Macleod clan on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. It is remembered as a strategic stronghold in the history of the Western Isles and as the site of a significant battle in 1266 between the Macleods and the Clan Donald.
