Castlehill Junction split railway traffic in North Ayrshire during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Whether it was a grand station or a modest crossing of lines remains unknown, but the name suggests trains diverged there instead of passing through. Ardrossan and the surrounding hills would have felt the rhythm of wheels, bells and breath from exhaust. The junction may have been small on a map yet large in the lives of the people who depended on it.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Ardrossan, Castlehill Junction as Railway Junction (19th Century) - (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
