St Columba's Well is associated with St Columba, a 6th-century Irish monk and missionary who was instrumental in the Christianization of Scotland. The well is traditionally believed to have healing properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin, and may have been a site of pilgrimage and ritual cleansing.
