Ardnaglass Castle is a ruined medieval fortress in County Sligo, built by the O'Dowds, who ruled as Lords of Tireragh. The rectangular stronghold measured roughly 32 metres by 21 metres and featured sophisticated defences such as machicolated projections, gun loops and thick ashlar walls. Today only fragments remain, including an 8 to 10 metre high southeastern wall and a corner of the northwestern wall, yet the ruin still stands on a gentle hill overlooking the Ballysadare to Easky road. Its surviving stonework testifies to skilled craftsmanship and the enduring presence of the O'Dowds in the Sligo countryside.
