Ardblair Castle stands as a rare surviving courtyard tower house near Blairgowrie, where a 1623 sundial still marks time in the centre of the yard. Patrick Blair lost his head in 1554 for murdering George Drummond and his son, an act of violence that may have wounded Jean Drummond so deeply she drowned in a local marsh. Local story claims her green silk form still searches the chambers, turning a domestic building into a place where love and feud never fully died.
