Àrd Nis is a headland composed primarily of Devonian sandstone, formed around 400 million years ago through the deposition and lithification of sediment in a shallow marine environment. It is notable for its resistant rock formations that have withstood coastal erosion, contributing to the dramatic sea cliffs characteristic of the Argyll and Bute coastline.
