St. Finan's Church, built on an island in the middle of a lake, still stands with walls high enough to touch. The second of three carved stones from that church survives as a separate fragment, removed from the main structure but still carrying its shape. A church on a lake is not a ordinary building; it is a claim that the boundary between land and water does not limit human belief.
