What is recorded here
Four voussoirs lie buried in the chancel of St Finan's church on Church Island. They are not a display but a mistake of time, waiting for hands clever enough to fit them into an arch. The island keeps its shapes hidden because visibility belongs to the person patient enough to ask them to appear.
For descriptive account see O'Sullivan and Sheehan (1996, 316-22, no. 974, one of '…four voussoirs…' which lie in the chancel of St Finan's church).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
