What is recorded here

That is the place in Callan North. It is not a hidden chamber or a finished room. It is a broken fragment of architecture, still standing beside the living town. The main chamber is gone. The edge remains. A human hand may have shaped that edge, and a human memory may have kept that shape alive. The chamber is no longer visible, but the edge still points back toward it.

Incorporated into the entrance of 'St. Augustine's Well' (KK026-010018-) which is c. 60m S of the Augustinian friary (KK026-010016-) of Callan and c. 35m N of the Kings River. At the entrance to the holy well the water flows over a limestone gutter-spout (dims. 0.58m x 0.35m; T 0.12m) which may have come from the friary.
