Architectural fragment in Burgagery-Lands West

In South Tipperary County Museum. A limestone engaged capital (H 0.24m; Wth 0.47m), dating from the latter half of the 13th century, from the Franciscan friary in Cashel (TS061-025008-) (TSCM files). It is decorated with stiff leaf foliage, consisting of three multi-lobed plant motifs, the central motif rises upwards from a stem, while the plants on either side are inverted. Another limestone capital (TS083-019104-) from the Franciscan friary is also stored in South Tipperary County Museum. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 10 February 2015
