Arbroath Abbey was founded in 1273 by King Alexander III of Scotland and later became a significant religious and political site, dedicated to the Holy Trinity. It is an important example of Scottish medieval monastic architecture and is closely associated with the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320.
