Aquhorthies

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Aquhorthies as Recumbent Stone Circle (neolithic) - (bronze Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Aquhorthies is a Neolithic recumbent stone circle, likely dating to between 2500 and 2000 BCE, and is one of the best-preserved examples of this type of monument in Scotland. These circles may have had ceremonial or astronomical functions, and are often associated with ritual activity and burial practices of the time.
