Aonaig Mhòr is a sea cliff located in the Na h-Eileanan Siar archipelago, composed primarily of basaltic rock formed during the Paleogene period, around 60 to 55 million years ago, as a result of volcanic activity associated with the opening of the North Atlantic. It is notable for its dramatic coastal exposure of columnar jointing, a common feature of ancient lava flows in the region.
