Antrim Castle stood on the Sixmilewater River from 1613 until fire took it in 1922, leaving behind a grassed platform, an Italian stair tower, and a gatehouse. Sir Hugh Clotworthy built the first fortress, his son enlarged it, and John Bowden reshaped it into a Georgian-Gothic mansion in 1813. Jacobite soldiers raided it in 1689, politicians argued inside it in 1806, and a small family gathering may have sparked the fatal blaze decades later. The castle vanished, but its gardens still mark the place where power, pride, and memory kept colliding.
