Anti Landing Trench, Castlemartin

Anti Landing Trench

What is recorded here

Anti Landing Trench at Castlemartin cuts through Pembrokeshire soil as a Post Medieval warning against invasion. Its shallow line may have marked a boundary between friendly land and hostile water, forcing sailors to respect the coast rather than exploit it. The trench still exists because someone believed the sea needed a visible limit.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Anti Landing Trench, Castlemartin as Anti Landing Trench from the Post Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
