Almshouse

What is recorded here

Angle Castle is a 14th-century Pele Tower in Angle, Pembrokeshire, built by Robert de Shirburn during the era of Owain Glyndŵr. The tower may have formed part of a larger castle complex, with hints of a moat and another tower still buried beneath Castle Farm. French forces landed at Angle in 1405 to assist Glyndŵr, and the tower likely watched that coast through fear and change.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Angle Castle; The Almshouse, Angle as Almshouse from the Medieval; Post Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Angle Castle, located in Angle, was built by the Bishop of St Asaph in the 13th century as a defensive structure to control the strategically important Menai Strait. It is remembered for its role in the defense of the region and as an example of early Welsh military architecture.
