Andania

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Andania as Liner (period Unassigned)-(1918). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Andania* was a liner built in 1918, later identified as a former German vessel, *SMS Andania*, captured by the British after World War I. It was wrecked in 1921 near the Orkney Islands after running aground; no lives were lost, and the wreck was noted for its historical significance as a captured German warship repurposed as a merchant vessel.
