This blue commemorative plaque records: Alliott Verdon Roe (1877-1958) and Humphrey Verdon Roe (1879-1949) formed the A. V. Roe & Co (Avro) aircraft company on 1st January 1910 and opened their first workshop here. Recorded plaque organisation: Manchester City Council.
Alliott Verdon Roe and Humphrey Verdon Roe were British aviation pioneers who founded Avro, a significant aircraft manufacturer that contributed to the development of British military and civil aviation during the early 20th century.
