Alice Wheeldon was an anti-war activist, socialist, and suffragist known for her opposition to World War I and her involvement in radical politics; she was convicted under the Defence of the Realm Act for allegedly plotting to kill the politician David Lloyd George, though many viewed her trial as politically motivated.
