This blue commemorative plaque records: Church of Saint Edmund Grade I Listed 1870 to 1873 The outstanding Freemasonic architecture of the Church of St Edmund represents the pinnacle of James Medland and Henry Taylors' architectural skills. The building was funded by notable Rochdale banker, industrialist and Freemanson, Albert Hudson Royds Recorded plaque organisation: Rochdale Civic Society.
Albert Hudson Royds was a prominent Rochdale banker and industrialist who significantly contributed to the construction of the Church of Saint Edmund. James Medland, alongside Henry Taylor, designed this Grade I listed building, showcasing their exceptional skills in Freemasonic architecture and leaving a lasting architectural legacy.
