This blue commemorative plaque records: Albert Goldthorpe was Leeds' first sporting superstar. A supreme goal-kicker and talismanic captain of Hunslet Rugby Club, he made over 700 appearances during 21 seasons. His crowning glory was leading the team to the first ever "grand slam" of all four Rugby League trophies in 1907/08. 1871-1943. Recorded plaque organisation: Leeds Civic Trust.
