This blue commemorative plaque records: Alan Turing 1912-1954 founder of computer science and cryptographer, whose work was key to breaking the wartime Enigma codes, lived and died here.
Alan Turing was a pioneering mathematician and logician, foundational in the development of computer science and artificial intelligence, and his cryptographic work significantly aided Allied efforts during World War II by helping to break German Enigma codes.
