East Lodge still stands as a nineteenth-century gate lodge at Airthrey Castle in Stirling, Scotland. Its exact position is known to the nearest metre, yet no record claims the public may enter. The lodge may have directed visitors past working gardens, private roads or castle grounds. It is a small gate to a larger lost arrangement of rooms, paths and lives.
