Achnaclerach

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Achnaclerach as Chapel (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Achnaclerach is associated with St Celeriac, a 6th-century Irish monk and missionary who is said to have founded a monastery in Kintore, Aberdeenshire. The name of the well or site may derive from his name, and such locations were often linked to healing traditions and local Christian devotion in early medieval Scotland.
