Achnacarry Castle stands as a square, early nineteenth-century mansion in Highland Scotland, shadowed by the vanished first castle built by Sir Ewan Cameron towards the end of the seventeenth century. Hanoverian soldiers burned that earlier home after Culloden, leaving behind only an ivy-covered chimney and a beech avenue that still marks the lost line of the house. The present structure rises where memory and stone diverge, its sharp angles framing a valley that has forgotten the wood and fire which once defined it.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Achnacarry Castle as Castle (medieval), Military Camp (second World War). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Achnacarry Castle was built by the Clan Cameron in the 16th century and is remembered as a historic stronghold of the clan in the Scottish Highlands. It also served as a military camp during the Second World War.
