Six to eight Castle Terrace in Aberdeen may have been a smithy, though no date or owner is certain. If so, the street carried ringing steel and hot iron long before it became an ordinary terrace. The numbers still mark the spot where metal may have sparked, shaped and struck while the city grew around it.
