Aberdeen's lost castle stood behind Gallowgate walls, a medieval fortress now erased from memory but never forgotten by the city's bones. Its chambers may have held guards, lovers or thieves, and its stones may still lie buried beneath modern streets. The absence does not diminish it; it sharpens the longing for what the city stopped showing the world.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Aberdeen, Gallowgate, 'mar's Castle' as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
